Welcome to our participants!

This month, the team selected 24 participants for the project. We had almost 100 applications from brilliant scholar-activists right across Southeast Asia, so this was a really difficult task! Our project administrator has been working tirelessly to organise this process (thank you, June!) We wish we could include everyone. We hope that even those who were not selected this time will keep in touch with the project in the future. We have now sent out the news to participants and we are getting ready for the first event: our first online seminar! This will be held in November 2025 (date TBC). In this seminar we will share our motivations for starting this project, get to know each other a little better, and support participants to write a draft skeleton version of an article that will be peer reviewed before the in-person workshops in Chiang Mai on 5-7 February 2026.   Call for participants! We are excited to announce a new project, funded by the British Academy: Human Rights Education and Activism in South-East Asia: Developing the Publication and Grant-writing Capacity of ECR Scholar-Activists in Challenging Political Times. This project aims to develop the capacity of 24 ECR ‘scholar-activists’ in the fields of human rights education and activism in South-East Asia (SEA) to write for publication, to successfully apply for research funding and to cascade this learning to other scholar-activists.   ------ Project deadline: 5 September 2025 ------ Project activities: 1.
